Owner & Mechanic: Matt Fox

Matt was a one-man crew for much of the shop’s history.

The mechanic, sales team, accountant, you name it.

He’s curated a personal, hands-on approach to bike retailing, with, of course, the twist of pedaling the largest inventory of Certified Pre-Loved Bikes available in the area.

Matt’s been tinkering with bikes for 20 years. Using combined experience from multiple stores, Matt has been able to play a pivotal role in developing the business model for ReCycles Bikes & learned how to deliver customers the best of both worlds: top-quality service & sales with Pre-loved pricing.

Outside the shop, if he’s not out on a bike, you’ll find Matt running around with the local running club in Frederick. Or he may be off exploring another country during the off-season, completing a bike tour. If you’ve been following the shop for a while, you know that for about 1 month out of the year, ReCycles Bikes’ doors are temporarily closed for these trips.

So far, Matt has completed rides in the US, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, Mexico, Iceland & most recently, an epic gravel ride in Patagonia!

Meet Sarpér!

You’ll find him hard at work on the sales floor, helping customers find their very own Pre-Loved Bikes, performing Custom Fittings, managing the shop’s email marketing, and more!

Fun fact: He’s also known the owner, Matt since they were both 3 years old! So he’s been both excited & proud to watch both Matt & ReCycles Bikes’ journey in becoming such a positive influence in the Frederick cycling community!

With a varied background in social media, photography, marketing, & retail, Sarpér brings an array of unique tools & skill sets to the table. Since joining the team, he’s been working hard to leverage his knowledge to assist ReCycles Bikes in taking the customer & community experience to the next level.

Whether it be website design, emails, social media campaigns, in-store sales, or custom fittings, Sarpér is here to help ReCycles Bikes achieve its mission of making biking more attainable for all!
